I just wish I could Thank the man who made me reach the level I'm at now. From the youngest artist to the oldest, he loves art and expression. now thanks to the hype of the media, he's gone.

Mark, you were an awesome man. A true beacon of art, inspirational and learning and a role model for children. I had hoped to get my tiny voice out to reach you, but it was not to be. the media just have a louder voice then me even when I wrote to the BBC and news papers. Maybe you were just too good for this world.

But I wont let your life go to waste. I will from now on inspire others. I have often done anyway, but I want to actually go out and help other with their art, young and old. teach them the fun part of art and the beauty of expression. Share my inspirations and lessons and learn from all acts. young and old can teach us about art and the power of expression.

It's the least I can do for someone who inspired so many thousands of Children.

You know...we all have our heroes when we're children. Weather it be fictional or real, but there is always someone or something that shapes your path in life. I've had many 'heroes' in my life, going from my family, to friends and teachers and yes, one or two 'celebrities'.

Who is Mark Speight? He was a man who presented on a children's art show 'Smart' on the BBC (or CBBC in this case). He's been on the show for as long as I can remember and only last year, I literary bumped into him whilst at the Tate modern and he looked and signed my sketch book. I didn't bother him too much since he looked as if he was with friends, but I told him that he was a big inspiration and it was awesome to still see him on the art scene. He was quite happy to accept my sketch book and his friends were not bothered by my appearance after a stream of school kids.

Well, he's been in the news a lot recently. His fiancée who was also a children's presenter on another of Mark's shows was found dead in their home after a mishap with drugs. Now the devastated Mark is missing, and although I try not to pry to much in the lives of others, when it comes to this, I'm genuinely worried.

I guess there is little I can do, asides for keep an eye out, but like anybody, Mark is one man among millions. he could be anywhere by now. But I guess this is my bad attempt at getting my little voice out.


I'm 20 years old and in my first year of Animation studies in the university of Portsmouth. One of the main reasons I picked up a pencil and continued with art is because of this man.

Now I've seen nasty comments floating around about how the may have hurt Natasha his fiancée, or how he was on cocaine and even gems like this:

"Is it surprising that children become out of control teenagers when their role models are seriously flawed?"

...The thing is, Mark wasn't flawed. In fact, he was the best presenter out there. Children aren't going to take drugs or hurt their lovers because they saw it on the news, come on, give kids more credit then that! Mark did! And besides, he's been proven innocent and hasn't been charge, so what are you trying to say?

Besides, everyone shows a different face to the world then the one they really have. And the face I saw was one that pushed me to doing art and at the end of the day I ask any child here in the UK about art, and they pretty much all say that mark from Smart helped them express themselves. At the end of the day, I do not care what they have done. It's been proved he didn't hurt the one he loved and he's not on drug charges. Weather or not drugs are in the equation or the fact I disagree with the use of cocaine is neither here or there. There is a man out there who is crushed and probably lost as to who his is right now and that man was an icon to thousands of children.

My ending word is this:
To all you scorning parents and misguided teenagers:Mark is not a bad man. In fact, he is a very good man. I'm am sitting here doing art because of this man. My only hope is that he is safe, so that he can continue to do good. #

I highly doubt that Mark or his friends and fmaily will ever see this, but here is my message to mark:

Don't give up on yourself. Grief will hurt and you are probably feeling like it is truly the end. That is something I can only imagine and then it is not enough. I'm sure you feel not just grief but guilt, hopelessness and possibly anger and all the other emotions that come through a  terrible time such as this.

 But for the children you inspired, entertained and taught growing up; it is certainly not the end. Even if you cannot return to what you loved, you can live on in something else and do good for the life ahead of you and for Natasha.
 when in doubt, use the art you loved so much to express yourself when the time is right. You may find a new life in that (and it doesn't necessarily mean leaving the one you have now behind).

Oh and I passed by first semeester! You need 40% to pass and I got a 60% in my essay and my reaserch work, 57% in my drawing and 50% in 3D. Not great, but this year, you're only expected to learn and pass.

I knew the Japanese government was probably lying when they first sent out ships to hunt whales for 'Scientific research'. But now it's all out.
Not only have they been caught slaughtering several Whales, one of the hunts ended in the slaughter of a mother and her calf. They were filmed being hunted and killed.

For fuck sake. This kind of shit makes me wished I had continued my biological studies and became an natural researcher. You don't have to destroy life to learn from it. But they aren't learning. It's food and oil. To them; it's just big amounts of food and oil that moves.


I can't describe how much this outrages me. Lets just say it's on par with 'King bush' taking wolves and bald eagles off the endangered list on behalf of the 'livestock industry'.  Funny, I don't remember much live stock being kept where wolves were being preserved, nor it being in any immediate threat from wolves.

It's a fucking shame that organizations like PETA and SHAC give those of us who stand for animal rights a really bad name. I've been called 'uneducated' for standing up for animals and saying that governments care nothing for animals as long as money is involved.

Well shit. I'm gonna be a not-teen any more.

That's right, I'm officially no longer gonna be a teenager. I'm alreayd techically an aadult thought becuase here in the UK, you are an adult at 18.

I'm not too excited about my birthday. I'm not too fond about leaving my teen years. Is it really that bad if you're kind of... old at 20? As far as I'm concerned I'm still 17.

I think being 17 was the best years of my life. I left drama-rama that was high school, gained a bunch of friends, actually enjoyed my education and really started getting my creative freedom. It was full of wackiness, depraved humour, and enjoyable learning. Fun fun fun. :D
17 is usually an age I give to my characters actually.

I had planned to do loads of things for my birthday. Going to London to be part of a furry convention they were having (2 the ranting gryphon was gonna be there!), Bill baily was performing in brighton tonight and the golden compass was supposedly meant to come out this week but they pushed it back.
However like all plans I hold my birthday, nothing ever really happens because it's always set up in a period where everyone's working, no one has money because a Christmas, no one's ever available and they all fuss is about doing something or buying me loads of presents. But all I really wanted to spend time with people. :/

however I plan to spend much more time on my 21st actually doing something. I am going to get hammered, dance until my feet are raw, and have loads and loads and loads of fun.
Speaking of 21st birthdays, it'll be Scifer's in January.

Actually if you Wanna do something for my birthday you can go cheer him up. So far this year he's had to put up with a bunch of hooting dickholes. D:<

The University course on the other hand his bags and bags of fun. Apparently I been giving the impression that I've not been enjoying the course when it is in fact completely the opposite. I love my course a lot, I made loads of friends, I have a challenge offered to me, I'm working in the thing I love and I'm in a great city.

I'll hopefully upload some of my artwork soon but everything is a bit big and unfinished as of the moment. The only bad thing about the course so far is that I have not got much time to do some my own personal drawings. That and they don't do much in the way of traditional animation. Which is a shame because I prefer that 3-D animation. I just don't enjoy 3-D animation as much, it small more of a gaming thing to me. but we get to do traditional animation next year which is all good. :3

Shadow here, reporting from Portsmouth university!

 I'd Thought I'd give you the lowdown  on whats been happening in my life so far. 

The halls in which I'm styaing in are awesome! Ok,  they're not on suite and they look kinda  grotty,  but everyone in my corridor is wonderful and the rooms, water and food are always warm. It's self catred too, whcih is good. Me and my corridor nighbours are already like a big family, it's great! :D

My roomate Pheobe is also a sweetie. I only had to share my room with her for 2 weeks so far, and we've all become such good freinds, we were glad to hear she has placement in these same halls, just one floor above us. Thats awesome because she was in emegancy placement, and since we're all getting along so well, she didn't want to leave these halls. So we're really pleased for her, and I'll be getting  big room to myself soon, so thats awesome. :3

The course is also excellent. The lecurers are all really easy going and friendly, and the course has lots of different aspects to it, it feels like haveing loads of different lessons. It's awesome because it means I'm always doing something, Learning a range of skills and have a good chance of getting in the animation industry with a wide range of skills. Not just in the naimtion process. I'm also never in for a whole day  of lessons and I have fridays off, which is also good because this means have time for work, getting a job, socal life and family.
 Not to mention it means I have alot of time for a certian badgox who I know has been misisng me  a whole lot, and I wnat him to know that I miss him too. ;3

I've already been doing some life drawing, 3D max skills slessons and basic essay writing and artist anylsis stuff. Whivh is awesome.

Not to mention  there has been parties, drinking and freebees abound for freshers like me! ;3 I also got to meet my long time internet friend Emsie here too! ( http://emsiecat.deviantart.com ) She's such a hunny. <3

so yeah, thats all for now. I still have no real internet. I'm still waiting for my new PC to come in as  well. I'm currently using pheobe's lappy or the libary to talk to you guys. So do excuse my silence.

Okies, Just to let you guys know that I'm off to Portsmouth University this saterday to start my course in animation!  I'm kinda nervous, excited and batty about the whole thing right now. I've been busy a HELL getting ready for it and it's about to get busyer.

I should be finally getting my own free laptop ( 'cause I'm dyslexic if any of you who don't read my descriptions wouldn't know. 8B ) some time in the next month, but until then- I wont have much inetrnet acsess, so you may not hear from me in a while. I'll see how things go.

I may also have a roomate for the first 3 weeks, but I'll find out on the day (emergancy placement and all. Yeah, I got the sucky rooms (thats all thanks to BOURNMOUTH UNIVERSITY - thanks a bunch for making your decitions way too late, so you screw up my offers at portsmouth. ¬.¬ ) thats without on on sweet, but it's catred and it's cheaper and at leats it's a place to live. So i lok forward to all that.

So until then, please be patient and wish me lots of luck. I'm hoping to see Emsie from the mewtwo temple while I'm up there and wish Scifer and his mates a good house-warming party. Hopefully I'll be able to make it, but it depends on whats going on.

Drawings never an issue with me. I love to draw. I usually draw for myself and share with others. I never lack Ideas and thus lack art block in my life. I also know I'm not perfect, yet I make sure that I do try to make the odd peice something I really work on to get right.

Writing is another matter. 

A whole other matter.

Dyslexia is bad in the first place. It's just a pain in the ass, not just on my spelling front but getting what is in my head into a word, sentance or paragrpah.

I wnat to write my story. I've wanted to write it for many years. Yet now, i satre at a blank word document, and an empty note book with attempted bullet points on how to start.

Yet. 

THE. WORDS. WONT. COME. OUT.

It's like a mess when I do get them out. No timeline, no coherent way of putting it. It's not always like this, I've written 4000 word essays on enzymes and genetic finger prints in under a few hours. I've worked on other stories with no problem. But today...

I've got writers block. And it's not even funny. XO

But I'm a bloody perfectionist in writing. Yet I'm dyslexic. 
Wonderful.

So please help me. Help me with how you all do it. How to you write a letter? how do you start a short story? when you tell the wold about your day, how do you start? Because I need to get back to the basics. Tell me how you start a story, tell em how you lay it out. I need a plan. I need somehtign to sart this off again. People enjoy my writings, and I want this story to be just right...

Then again, it's late and I didn't eat much today. I guess some days the brain needs a break, ya know?
